STOP

Overview

CEASE facilitates the Sex Trade Offender Program (STOP), an alternative measures program for those arrested for attempting to purchase sexual services and participating in the sexual exploitation and sex trafficking of persons.

STOP is a workshop for men arrested for buying sex. During the 8-hour workshop, law enforcement, crown prosecutors, probation officers, and health services give presentations on the consequences of buying sex. In the afternoon, recovering sex buyers, survivors of sexual exploitation, and family members who have lost a loved one due to sexual exploitation speak with participants.

The program intends to

• Offer those who purchase sex the opportunity to reflect on and consider the broader consequences of this action and its ripple effect on families and communities
